P7- S1 QHS Transition Update

Welcome from QHS staff

Given these challenging and extraordinary times we would like to offer the opportunity to our new S1 pupils and a parent/ carers to come and collect their QHS tie from some of our staff on Tuesday 23rd June.

This will give you a chance to say ‘hi’ to your Pupil Support Leader (at a social distance!), ask any questions and collect your QHS tie. There will also be a display of the school uniform; tartan skirt/ PE kit and blazer. Due to the COVID 19 pandemic it is important that all health and safety measures are adhered to and therefore we can not extend the times listed below. However, staff at QHS can take any contact details and contact via email/ phone following the identified sessions listed below.

PLEASE NOTE: We are aware that these times will not suit everyone and if you are unable to make these times all New S1 pupils will get their tie on their first day at the high school in August. You can also still submit questions via the Q&A forms on our school website. Alternatively please contact Miss Gordon – michelle.gordon@queensferry.edin.sch.uk

Health and Safety Key Points:

*You MUST observe 2m social distance rule – this will be clearly marked out

*All activity is outside

*Pick up one tie only, from the table and do not handle multiple ties

*Attendance: P7 pupil and one other adult from the same household

*Only attend at your allocated time slot

*One-way system – Enter via one entrance clearly marked and exit via a second entrance clearly marked

Update on P7 Transition June 2020 – see attached letter

Information regarding PE at QHS

All S1s - Royal Blue T-shirt (NOT NAVY BLUE), this is compulsory. You have the option of purchasing the Hooded Top also in Royal Blue, this in not compulsory but recommended – they are very cosy for outdoor wear. You can order this from the same company as the school uniform – Borders Embroideries. With regard to footwear we have very specific footwear required for the 4G pitch – they must wear moulded studded boots not Astra trainers with the dimples or flat soled shoes (please see attached letter)

We have yet to establish what activities will be able to run in our new blended learning model – as soon as these details are finalised we will confirm.

Please also note the no note policy in the department – attached letter
