Work Experience Opportunities - Senior Phase

*Coronavirus Update*

Work experience placements are currently suspended in line with national guidance. We aim to restart our programme of placements as soon as it is safe to do so.

S4

Pupils in S4 can participate in our Work Experience programme in the local community. These experiences are in the form of week long placements, with our aim being to organise two blocks in the year:

- a week in October for the whole year group

- a week in May for those where examination commitments allow

We strive to support young people to organise a self-found placement which meets their aspirations. Where this is not possible, we can provide a selection of placements through our Developing the Young Workforce partners.

Through their work on placement, young people could be accredited with the SCQF Level 5 Unit - Work Placement.

Flexible placements (those out with the main programme) can be supported in consultation with your young person’s Pupil Support Leader.

S5

Pupils in S5 can participate in the Career Ready or JET programmes. The Pupil Support team will share more information on these opportunities with young people in the Summer Term of S4. These programmes aim to build on the experiences young people have had in S4 by fostering connections between them and local employers over an extended period of time.

More information on the respective programmes can be found at:

S6

Pupils in S6 can elect to embed work experience within their timetable. This would usually take the form of one afternoon per week spent on work experience with a local employer.

We strive to support young people to organise a self-found placement which meets their aspirations.
