The Reading for Enjoyment Library is located on the second floor, next to the English Plaza. This open plan space contains Junior/YA Fiction, Senior Fiction, Quick Reads, Fun Facts, and Escape, Connect, Relate titles. There are also two satellite libraries, put in place to support other departments across the school. One of these subject libraries can be found on the third floor Science plaza, the other on the first floor between the Computing/Business and the Art, Design, and Technology departments.
The Library has been created to be an inviting and tranquil place for pupils to read, to study, and to unwind. Staffed by a fulltime professional Librarian, the Library is a whole school resource which supports curriculum needs and fosters a reading culture by:
• Promoting reading for enjoyment
• Providing resources to support student studies
• Cultivating a welcoming environment
• Allowing access to study space
Due to COVID-19 health and safety measures, the Library is not open for break or lunch. However, the Library remains open before and during class time for English department visits and for any pupil who is needing a safe space for time out, personal reading, or study, although there are certain rules in place to ensure that the Library is used responsibly and safely during the pandemic. Moreover, digital avenues of access have been created and will be regularly updated to ensure that the Library’s collections remain readily discoverable and available for pupils and staff alike.
