Queensferry High School is very conveniently located in the middle of the beautiful and historic town of South Queensferry, very close to the main bus and railway links to Edinburgh and Fife, both offering services at least every 30 minutes.
From Edinburgh, approach on the main A90 road, cutting on to the B924 on the approach to Dalmeny. Once on the B924 take the first main junction to the left, signposted for Dalmeny. When Dalmeny is reached, turn right after the Church and then follow the signs for Dalmeny Railway station. When the railway station is reached, carry on underneath the rail bridge. QHS is situated on your left.
From Fife, leave the main A90 at the large roundabout, taking the A8000 and following the signs for South Queensferry. At the next roundabout, turn left onto the B907, again following the signs for South Queensferry. Carry on down the B907 until you see Dalmeny railway station signposted, then turn right here onto Ashburnham road. Before you reach the railway station, QHS is situated on your right.
From Glasgow/Falkirk Enter South Queensferry by the A8000. At the roundabout near the Dakota hotel / Tesco, turn right onto the B907, following the signs for South Queensferry. Carry on down the B907 until you see Dalmeny railway station signposted, then turn right here onto Ashburnham road. Before you reach the railway station, QHS is situated on your right.
By Rail
QHS is very easy to commute to by rail. Dalmeny train station is situated only a couple of minutes walk from the school.
First Scotrail provide four trains per hour between Edinburgh and Dalmeny throughought the day. This drops to two per hour in the evening.
From Edinburgh, Haymarket or South Gyle, join a Fife bound train heading for Glenrothes, Cowdenbeath, Markinch, Kirkcaldy or Cardenden. All of these services stop at Dalmeny station.
When alighting at Dalmeny, continue down the main station ramp. QHS is easily visible on your left.
Note that some Fife bound services display "Edinburgh Waverley" as their destination, which can be slightly confusing as this is where they have just come from! This is because most trains actually travel in a full circle around Fife, returning to Edinburgh as their final destination.
From Fife, Perth and The North, join a service heading for Edinburgh Waverley, but make sure that it calls at Dalmeny as there are many express services which do not stop. The best place to change from an express to a local service is at Inverkeithing station.
When alighting at Dalmeny, continue over the station footbridge, and then down the main station ramp on your right. QHS is visible on your left from here.
For detailed train times and up to the minute departure information, look at the National Rail or First Scotrail websites.
By Bus
The number 43 and X43 bus from Edinburgh is a half hourly service, and very conveniently stops right outside the school fence on Ashburnham road. Look out for the bus passing under Dalmeny railway station, and alight at the next stop.
