St Andrew's Day Debating Competition
Mr Caldicott reports:
"Duncan Readle in S6 was the QCHS representative in the 11th St Andrew’s Day Debating competition held at the Scottish Parliament on Monday 27th November. Queensferry has been in this competition before, but never progressed beyond the third round. Yesterday (Monday 27th November 2017) we got to the final! This was held in the Main Debating Chamber of Holyrood, where all the MSPs sit for Governmental debates. Supporting Duncan were Ben and Ross Grahame (S5), who were also judges throughout the day, S3 pupils Jonathan Riley, Calum Readle and Luke Cumming-McMillan and S2 pupil Arron Barclay.
Duncan and his University debater partner Robin (pictured) picked up best pupil speaker and best University speaker for the day! There were over 200 attendees - what an achievement. Duncan and Robin finished 3rd in the final, another great achievement considering the calibre of school competitors from across the country.
Well done Duncan, a great way to follow on from last year’s successful and supportive debate club presidency."
Duncan has also been invited by the First Minister, The Rt Hon. Nicola Sturgeon MSP to join her at the St Andrew's day celebrations at Edinburgh Castle on the evening of Thursday 30 November 2017.
