Cookery Competition Success

Ms McGlasson reports on pupils' success in a recent cookery competition organised by Tilda Rice  in partnership with the charity Mary's Meals:

"The pupils, S2-6, were working over lockdown, designing new rice dishes suitable to be sold as street food/truck food. As part of the project they also had to research the origins of rice and its impact on the local economies, newly emerging food trends worldwide and generate new ideas to support fundraising events for the Mary’s Meals charity. For every fully completed entry, 10 meals have been donated towards the Mary’s Meals charity. On behalf of our school we have donated 280 meals to support this amazing Scottish charity.

“The judges liked the creativity and originality QHS pupils displayed and the fact that many included pictures of the finished dishes that they had made themselves”.

The following pupils have won 1st place in their age groups:

Amy McIntosh 6H1 – for her “ Avocado sushi rice balls with sweet chilli sauce”
